I’m fairly active on a guitar player’s forum. (Some might call it over active.)
Often, the impression of commissioning a guitar is that it is way too expensive and takes way too long.
I’d like to shatter that impression, get some of your names out there, and perhaps even get you a few orders.

I’d like to publish a current list of those willing to build for $2200 and less, and have a delivery time of less than a year. If you fit that description, respond here with you web site link, current delivery lead time, and starting price for standard woods, non cutaway, and any specialty – classical, blue grass, baritone, worship, etc.
If you don’t have a web site (I don’t either), give me an email address or other contact method.

I hope to get at least 10 names, hopefully more.

If you have any suggestions or cautions about posting such a list, please let me know via this thread, PM or email.
Thanks!

(I'll try to think of somehing in the future for the rest of you.    )

Hi Steve,

I'm interested as well, no website yet, email @ greggwaltney@bellsouth.net. I'm not sure about the base price as I'm contemplating a change there, but still under the mark you mentioned, write me if you would.

Isn't this fun? I'll be sure and post a link here when I do post the list. There is no way to know what will happen, but I hope you let me know if you get any contacts or commissions.

I'm just thinking out loud here, so let me know what you think. -
I'm thinking I'd like to give your name, business name if different, website, email contact, years building/repairing/playing, number of guitars built, any specialty, base price, lead time, and country.
There have been several inquiries about UK builders, so please post if you are in another country.

Is that too much or should there be more?

I've had 2 PMs in addition to the posts here. Feel free to do that, or email if you want.

plus one year, plus one year. Does that count?

Well, my specialty is classicals. My base model is $1500. I also build two models of 10-string classicals, $1750 for the "Entry model" and $2000 for the Concert model. Just about any option (wood choices, pickups, etc.) can be had for all models, except the Entry model 10-string. The only option I offer for it is a soundboard transducer pickup.

My wait time is currently about 8 months, and my prices are probably going up in March (haven't decided yet).

Steve, most of the additional info you've mentioned you'd like to collect (in your second post) can be found at my website. I'd recommend that any interested parties just go there. It's posted in my sig.

Best,

Michael McBroom

Steve, do be aware of some forum's advertising policies.... while it is fun and a great idea to make ourselves know to the public through forums, many do not allow "intended" advertising. I know this because in the other forum I frequent as much as this one (which I guess is the one you want to use) that is strickly against their policy. Besides, they require a $300 membership to be able to "advertise" yourself.
I know this as 2 of my posts where deleted and I got several emails from their management asking to remove my web address from my signature.

I do now sponsor their forum as a full paid sponsor. Posting a link or showing your work may be ok but intentional mass advertising is definately going to stirr the pot and make some people upset...

I am never the negative type but been there, done that, same forum....

Go ahead, just posting my 2 cents and personal experience....peterm39059.4447916667

This is getting pretty large and that is great. While I'm willing and wanting to to this, I don't want to spend a whole day on it.

So please make it easy for me.

I don't want to have to go the everyones web site to pull up your information. If I don't have all the information below, I might not post your info.

Please give me the following
1)your name
2)business name if different
3)website,
4)email contact
5)years building/repairing
6)number of guitars built,
7)any specialty,
8)base price,
9)lead time,

Thanks,
This is a work in progress, and I'm sorry for not being more organized up front.

Barry,
Why would it matter that newbies include themselves? This is a list of less expensive builders. That would almost seem to be newer builders only, or people who are still trying to get their name out. It doesn't bother me to put my name in the hat even though I am relatively new to building on my own.
